Fred Cecil Samson, 84, of Sweet Home died April 13, 2013.
He was born in Finley, Wash. to Roy Andrew and Mary (Younce) Samson.
His mother was a Cherokee Indian and Mr. Samson was proud of his Cherokee heritage.
He drove log trucks and worked in mills for many years in the Brownsville area. For 15 years he never missed a day of work and was never late, while working on jobs in Montana. Mr. Samson attended the River of Life Fellowship.
He loved hunting and fishing. In his youth he was sent out to hunt and his love of hunting and fishing continued throughout his life. Anything outdoors made him happy. He enjoyed making things out of wood.
Mr. Samson played guitar and taught all of his family to play. He was in a band when he was younger. He loved to talk, debate and tease, but was very loving and caring at the same time.
He is survived by his children, Cathy Ann Walker-Whitmore, Fred Andrew Samson, David Wayne Samson, Dan Rae Jaeger, Rick Jaeger, Jim Jaeger, Alan Samson, Rob Samson, and Radine Jaeger; numerous grandchildren; and great grandchildren.
Mr. Samson was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie R. Tucker; a son, Ed Jaeger; six brothers; and two sisters.
A memorial will be held at River of Life Fellowship at a later date.
