Brady Pickle, 67, of Sweet Home, died April 29, 2014 in Newberg, following a motor vehicle accident.
He was born July 4, 1947 in Mangum, Okla., the son of Brady and Dollie (Harcrow) Pickle. He moved to Sweet Home when he was 6 years old and attended school here.
Mr. Pic-kle began his logging career as a young man and worked in the logging industry until his retirement in 2002. He also worked on the construction of Green Peter Dam in his early years. He enjoyed riding and breaking horses in his early years with his best friends.
Mr. Pickle was an active member of the Lebanon First Assembly of God Church and he loved God more than anything. He served his church as deacon, director of men’s ministries, bus driver, helped start and build the new Lord’s Store House, and it was his idea to start the annual church Old Car Sunday and BBQ car and motorcycle show.
He recently started a group for the movement of Christian Rights (Christians stand up for your rights) and was involved in starting the Sweet Home Boys and Girls Club. He also coached wrestling and baseball in Sweet Home.
Mr. Pickle was always available to help anybody at any time and his house was always open to those who needed a home. He loved his family and was involved in all of their lives.
Although he suffered from arthritis, he never complained or let it slow him down. He loved camping, hunting and fishing especially with his family and friends. His greatest desire was for everyone to know Jesus Christ and meet him in heaven someday.
Mr. Pickle married Joanna Patton on May 24, 1986 in Sweet Home.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Doug Pickle, Kris Pickle, Janna Wheeler, Jessie Whitlock and Jolie Campbell; sisters Dollie Dutton, Ida Zayemopoulas, Betty Seyler and Freida Lawrence; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, at Huston-Jost Funeral Home in Lebanon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, at the Lebanon First Assembly of God Church.
