April 20, 1918 – Jan. 29, 2015
Ida Triplett, 96, formerly of Sweet Home, died Jan. 29, 2015 in Washington.
She was born April 20, 1918 in Hindman, Ky. to Alex and Tryphena (Pratt) Smith.
Her father was a farmer. She was acquainted with hard work from an early age and carried that ethic through the rest of her life. She grew up in a large family, including two sisters and five brothers.
She married Charles Triplett when she was 14 years old and eventually settled in Sweet Home.
Her husband was a farmer and log truck driver. Mrs. Triplett dedicated her life to caring for and loving her four daughters and son, the delights of her life. She set a great example for her children with her many homemaking skills and talents. She was an independent by nature and decisive, with an eye for precision and a heart filled with high expectations for herself and others.
Mrs. Triplett displayed many God-given talents in her life. She was blessed with great creativity and enjoyed the beauty that she could craft. She demonstrated her resourcefulness and ability in many ways, including sewing, quilting, and knitting, with many becoming the benefactors of her handiwork.
Mrs. Triplett also excelled in the kitchen, from which her family and friends enjoyed many meals. She loved her flowers, the colors of which often graced the outside border of her home. Her love of music also filled her home and this love was passed on to her children.
Above all, Mrs. Triplett loved her Lord. Her many journaled thoughts reveal the value of her faith as well as the object of that belief. Her persistent faith motivated her to make sure that her children would be given the opportunity to respond to the God that she loved. Every Sunday, she would diligently get all five children ready for church and without hesitation participate in worship at the Sweet Home Church of Christ.
Mrs. Triplett is survived by her daughter, Jerrun Triplett; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; younger sister Leila Mae; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Feb. 9 at the Sweet Home Mennonite Church.
Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
