Problem with pot is unenforced laws

Editor:

I don’t suppose it really matters to people like George Soros what kind of danger marijuana poses to the young people of Oregon. He has already spent at least 80 million dollars in the last 10 years to get it legalized,

It’s very sad because once it goes into effect, it will probably be regulated the same way tobacco and alcohol are. They can pass laws and pass laws but if they don’t enforce them it will do no good. Any given day you can see dozens of under-18 young adults smoking, It’s still against the law, but not to worry – nothing happens to them.

How many weekend booze parties are there for the underage drinkers, especially in the college town? But oh well, kids will be kids, we don’t have the time or resources to punish them either.

How many teens are smoking marijuana now? They are breaking the law, but no problem – we don’t go after small-time users now, so what would change if it is legalized for recreational use?

It’s just one more mess for the future to deal with.

It is way too big of a cash cow not to pass. It will get the yes vote of most public officials, teacher unions and pretty much all liberals because they will reap the benefits of the passage.

Cities are already trying to figure how much to tax them and how to spend tax money that they will get from it.
