Injury-plagued Huskies lost Thursday evening 3-1 at home against Sisters in girls soccer.
“That first half actually was really good,” said Coach Ramiro Santana. “We did all right. We stayed with them.”
Sisters scored goals in minutes 12 and 25 to take a 2-0 halftime lead.
Natalie Rodgers knocked in a long shot six minutes into the second half to make the score 2-1.
“It was pretty far away,” Santana said. “Kate Hawken gave her the pass,” and Rodgers shot it from the left near the middle of the field, a long kick over the goalie.
“It was actually a pretty cool looking goal,” Santana said.
The Outlaws scored their third goal on a penalty kick for a hand ball 30 minutes into the second half.
The Huskies continue to struggle with injuries, with Sydney Mauer out for the season. Torree Hawken was out five games, but Santana thought she might return for the team’s final game this week.
Ashley Farthing, Emily Farthing, Madelyn Neuschwander and Moira Curtis all are playing hurt, Santana said.
“For what we have, our girls step up,” Santana said. “Much better than when we started.”
Everyone will need to step up their game next year, including the coach, to be able to compete, Santana said. The Oregon West Conference is tougher than last year’s Sky-Em.
The Huskies have 10 losses and one tie in league play. They were scheduled to finish their season Tuesday evening hosting Newport.
