The Huskies had a hard time finding a bucket last week on the road as they lost to Sisters 44-16 Friday evening and Junction City 32-21 on Jan. 21.
Sweet Home and Sisters were tied 5-5 after one quarter, then Sisters went on a 16-2 run in the second to lead 21-7 at halftime.
“We were down 14,” said Coach Steve Brown. “That’s doable.”
But the Outlaws kept the pressure on, building a 31-12 lead by the end of the third quarter.
“we just didn’t get that many opportunities to shoot the ball,” Brown said.
The Huskies broke the Outlaw press, but Sisters settled into a half-court trap that frustrated the Huskies offense.
The Huskies had 10 turnovers midway through the second quarter, Brown said; and when they got the chance, they had trouble shooting – something they do well in practice.
“They were, again, decent shots; and most of the three-pointers were uncontested,” Brown said.
At Junction City, the Huskies took a first-quarter 9-5 lead, and they held on until halftime, leading 12-11.
Junction City got in front in the third, leading 20-17.
“I still think we have a shot at winning a couple of games at home,” Brown said.
The Huskies next visit Elmira on Saturday and host La Pine on Feb. 7.
