Sweet Home 10, Sisters 2

The Huskies dominated Sisters 10-2 in softball on the road Friday.

It was close to start, but the Huskies kept getting runners on base, said Coach Casey Humphrey. Each inning, they’d get a little farther.

The Huskies led 1-0 after one inning and were tied 2-2 by the end of the third. The Huskies scored in every following inning to get the win.

Emily Marchbanks pitched all seven innings, giving up seven hits and two doubles, while striking out 10 batters. She hit one batter but gave up no walks.

The game leaves the Huskies tied with Junction City at 6-2 in league. The Huskies face Junction City on Friday. Elmira is in first place at 8-0. Cottage Grove, 1-5, can’t be overlooked at fourth place either, Humphrey said. Sisters is 1-7, and La Pine is 0-6.

The Huskies lost 5-2 in their second game of the season to Elmira, the league leader, on April 18 at Elmira.

“It was a tough one,” Humphrey said. “I still don’t think we played our best softball that day.”

The Huskies had a couple of defensive errors that worked for Elmira, he said. It left a bad taste, and the Huskies are looking forward to hosting Elmira next game.

The Huskies can take Elmira, Humphrey said. “I don’t think they’ll sweep us.”

Graville pitched the six innings, giving up seven hits, a double and a walk. She struck out three.

Elmira pitcher Boytz gave up two hits and a walk, striking out 13 Huskies.

McKenzie Cochran hit a double, with an RBI. Sierra Thayer pinch hit a single in the seventh inning.
