LHS Awards & Scholarships
Lebanon High School was the location for the annual awards banquet on Monday, May 18, when seniors from the Class of 2026 were awarded more than $185,000 in local scholarship money.
“If you know anyone who belongs to one of the groups who generously donates to these scholarships each year, please thank them,” LHS Officer Manager Wendy Eilers said. “We could not do it without them. Our students are blessed to live in such an amazing community.”

L.F. Bud Page Award, recognizing a 12th grade student for overall outstanding leadership and achievement. Named in honor of former LUHS Principal, “Bud” Page, this award celebrates a graduating senior who has demonstrated exceptional dedication, character, leadership and involvement throughout their high school career. Awarded to David Brandt – $1,250.
Legacy Club (formally JOYA), recognizing a student who demonstrates outstanding leadership, service and dedication to helping others. JOYA (Junior Optimist Youth Appreciation) honors students who make a positive impact in their school and community through character, involvement and a commitment to improving the lives of those around them. Awarded to David Brandt – $750; Addy Pickles – $750; Ruby Vandenbos – $750.
Create the Future, established by LHS alumni Tanner and Lindsey Pruett, who now both work for Nike. As students, they were involved in leadership, clubs, athletics, volunteering and giving back to their community. This scholarship is awarded to a senior who reflects those same qualities of involvement, service, leadership and school spirit. Awarded to Carson Quigley – $1,000.
Beyond the Athlete, created by LHS alumni Ben and Emily Duerr, to recognize a senior who excels beyond athletics. This scholarship honors a student who demonstrates strong character, gives back to others, and succeeds both on the field and in the classroom. Awarded to David Brandt – $1,000.

Anne Williams Warrior, established in honor of longtime LHS Language Arts teacher Anne Williams, who passed away in 2020 after a battle with colon cancer. Anne was a passionate advocate for her students, and this scholarship was created to support and encourage the kind of students she cared so deeply about helping. Awarded to Jayden Hare – $1,000; Wyatt Jenkins – $1,000.
Kevin McFadden Memorial, established to honor Kevin McFadden, who passed at the age of 21 in a motorcycle accident. Kevin was passionate about welding, fabrication and heavy diesel equipment mechanics. This scholarship will be awarded to a senior who is entering one of those programs. Awarded to Avery Howell – $1,000.
Lebanon Rotary Club: Chase Herb – $1,000; Payton Voight- $1,000; Cade Weber – $500.
Lebanon Odd Fellow Lodge #47: Cade Weber – $1,000.
David M.Gazeley, providing an award for a LHS graduate who plans to attend Oregon State University and pursue a major or minor from the College of Business. Award to Rowan Jones – $5,000.
LUHS Class of 1986, established by the class and designed to assist a student who is going into a blue collar career. Awarded to Oliver Blatchley – $1,986.

Jimmy Glasser Memorial, established in honor of Jimmy Glasser, the late owner of Pineway Golf Course. Created by Jimmy’s son, Mitchell Glasser, the scholarship was designed to support a student-athlete as they begin their college journey. To be considered, recipients must have participated in athletics at LHS all four years of high school and demonstrated strong dedication and involvement in their sport. This year’s recipient truly embodies those qualities – a student-athlete who has poured their heart into athletics, excelled in the classroom, and represented Lebanon High School with pride both on and off the field. Awarded to Addy Pickles – $2,000.

Alpha Delta Kappa, awarded to a graduating senior who plans to pursue a career in elementary or secondary education. This scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate a passion for learning, leadership, and a commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of future students through teaching. Awarded to Wyatt Jenkins – $1,000; Alyx Mills – $1,000; Ruby Vandonbos – $1,000.
Dick Weisbrodt Wrestling, awarded to LHS Wrestlers: David Brandt – $1,000; Cade Weber – $1,000; Seth Wynn – $1,000.

Matthew Graves Memorial, established in 1997, the year Matt would have graduated from LHS. He was killed in an auto accident during this sophomore year. Matt was an intelligent, positive, caring young man who would do whatever he could for those in need. This scholarship is intended to financially assist students who have a desire to secure an education in order to become self-supporting. Awarded to Wyatt Jenkins – $1,000.
Brett Christensen Memorial, established in 1997, the year Brett would have graduated from LHS. He was killed in the same auto accident as Matthew Graves. Brett loved baseball, so it is only fitting that this scholarship is awarded to a baseball player. Awarded to Wyatt Jenkins – $1,000.
Brent Strohmeyer Memorial, established by the family of Brent Strohmeyer after he was killed in a car accident at the age of 20. Brent was very active in the automotive hobby and loved attending car shows and cruise-ins in his 1969 Hugger Orange Chevelle. This scholarship was set up to help other car lovers fulfill their dreams of fulfilling an education in their desired field of study. Awarded to Kherington Cook – $1,000; Avery Howell – $1,000; Jayden Stewart – $1,000.
Juanita Brown Struble, established in 1998 to financially assist a student entering into business, engineering, law, medicine, education, music or science at a four-year college or university. Awarded to Gwyneth Wheeler – $2,450.
Chuck and Jannie Bennett Memorial, awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates perseverance, character and a positive attitude. This scholarship honors students who show self-awareness, optimism, and a commitment to personal growth as they prepare for their future. Awarded to Hailey Destowet – $500.
East Linn Masonic Lodge #44, awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates academic achievement, community involvement and strong personal character. Sponsored by the local Masonic Lodge, this scholarship supports students pursuing higher education while recognizing those who strive to make a positive impact in their school and community. Awarded to Wyatt Jenkins – $1,000.
Curt & Margaret Uschmann Memorial, set up in 1981 by Curt and Margaret Uschmann to financially assist students who have a desire to secure an education in order to become self-supporting. Awarded to Hailey Destowet – $2,000; Jayden Stewart – $2,000; Payton Voight – $2,000; Oliver Blatchley – $1,000; Mayte Diaz-Sanchez – $1,000; Rowan Jones – $1,000; Alyx Mills – $1,000; Addy Pickles – $1,000; Daniela Sanchez-Guzman – $1,000; Cade Weber – $1,000.
Alta Ballew, awarded to seniors who will be enrolling directly at a four-year university after high school. Class of 1946, established in 2002 by Kenneth and Beverly Haughton, who created this scholarship to provide financial assistance to students who demonstrate the aptitude, determination and potential to succeed at a four-year college or university. Awarded to Carson Quigley – $5,000.
Comeback Award, started in 2011 by an anonymous teacher at LHS and given to the senior student who has had the greatest increase in grade point average from the end of their freshman year to the third quarter of their senior year. The student must have attended all four years of high school and earned all credits at LHS. Awarded to Brody Storkson – $500.
Other recognitions
In addition to recognizing scholarship recipients, the school presented citizenship awards, athletic awards, valedictorian and salutatorian honors, and top 10% awards.
Valedictorians this year are David Brandt, Bodhi Brown, Jayden Hare, Chase Herb, Isabella Milam, Alyx Mills, Dallen Myler, Carson Quigley, Tessa Thompson, Ruby VandenBos, Cade Weber, Anne Workman and Ellie Wright.

CITIZENS OF THE YEAR:
“The Pat Dadey Citizenship Award,” given to two who exemplify the highest traits of good citizenship, went to Reese King and Miller Swanson.
“The Bill Gambill Citizenship Award,” given to two sophomores who best exemplify the highest traits of good citizenship, went to Jane Brandt and Lake Tucci.
The “Unselfish Service Award,” given to two juniors for service willingly given without thought of compensation or reward, went to Scarlett French and Eva Graves.
The “Citizenship,” given to two seniors for unselfish service given freely and willingly without thought of compensation or reward, went to David Brandt and Ruby VandenBos.
The “Earl Gerfen Award” for highest excellence in Social Science,12th grade, was presented to David Brandt.
