Joyce (Rinehart) Jones

Joyce Marcia (Rinehart) Jones passed away on July 30, 2026, at the age of 89, in Eugene.
Born on April 25, 1937, in Trout Creek, Mich., Joyce was one of two daughters born to Russell and Lovina (Summerfield) Moffitt.
On Feb. 14, 1953, Joyce married Harvey G. Rinehart, in Grangeville, Idaho. The couple lived in Idaho until 1962, when they moved to Sweet Home with their three children. She was employed with the Sweet Home School District for 18½ years and became a library assistant.
She was also a Cub Scout leader for several years and was once awarded Den Mother of the Year in her scouting district.
Harvey Rinehart passed away in July of 1986.
On Dec 14, 1988, Joyce married Robert “Frank” Johnson and resided in Florence. The couple went into motel management, managing a motel in Coos Bay until Frank Johnson’s death in January of 1993.
In 1993, Joyce moved to the Eugene area to be closer to her family. She married Charles A. Jones on Dec. 26, 1994.The couple resided in Gold Beach until Charles Jones’s death in 1999, when she returned to Eugene, where she lived out the rest of her life.
Joyce enjoyed genealogy, travel, oil painting, sewing, reading and jigsaw puzzles.
Joyce is survived by her daughter and son-in-law. Brenda and Dennis Donin of Beaverton; daughter-in-law Cynthia Rinehart of Sweet Home; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her two sons, Thomas and Joseph Rinehart; her sister, Carroll Rao; grandson Shawn Banker; and five half-brothers.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at Lewis Cemetery in Foster.
Donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, Eugene, and Food for Lane Co., Eugene.
