Gerad Chandler Romero, 26, of Sweet Home, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026.
He was born Sept. 5, 1999, to Stella (Jones) Townsend in Bullhead City, Arizona.
He lived in Bullhead City until 2001, then his family relocated to Sweet Home. He attended Sweet Home Schools until 2018. After school he worked for East Linn Roofing until 2025. He was employed at Entek until his passing.
Gerad loved being outdoors – fishing, skate boarding, snowboarding, and mushroom hunting. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He adored his dog Droopert.
He is survived by his mother Stella and stepfather Jackson Townsend of Sweet Home; brothers Nicholas Umphress of Mohave Valley, Ariz., and Joseph Umphress of Albany; sisters Ashley Umphress of Sweet Home and Brittany Romero of Sweet Home; sister-in-law Kira Umphress of Albany; nephews Tyson and Kenneth of Albany, Nicholi and Izan of Arizona; and nieces Stella, Stevie Jo, Kaylee, Olivia, Lillian Oaklee of Oregon, and Annalynn of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth “Tate” Umphress; grandparents Earl and Betty Jones; uncles Butch and Kenny Jones; and aunt Elizabeth Jones, all of Oregon.
A celebration of life will be at a later date.
