Alvin Johnson

Alvin Lee Johnson, 73, of Sweet Home died Nov. 6, 2008.

He was born Nov. 16, 1934 in Colorado Springs, Colo. to Gordon B. and Ivis A. (Ingerham) Johnson.

He moved to Alaska as a child in 1939. He then moved to Sweet Home in 1976.

Mr. Johnson was in the Army from 1955 to 1959 in Anchorage, Alaska. He worked construction while living in Alaska.

When he first moved to Sweet Home he owned Al’s Keys & Lock until 1981. After that he owned and operated the Econo Wash Laundromat.

As a young boy Mr. Johnson built and collected trains and model airplanes. He also flew airplanes as a young man. In his later years he enjoyed building and repairing electronics. Alvin loved his cats and helped a local society in the care of feral cats.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his brother, Keith Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Johnson; mother Ivis Johnson; sisters Dorothy Wheeler and Phyllis Johnson; and brother Gary Johnson.

A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
