Meals on Wheels weekly menu
Meals on Wheels offers take-out lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The menu on Friday, June 3, is ground-beef stroganoff or chicken and dumplings, California mixed vegetables, a garden vegetable salad, French bread and apple streusel cake.
The menu on Monday, June 6, is herbed chicken patty or liver and onions, either with gravy; whipped potatoes, brussels sprouts, a dinner roll and chocolate pudding.
The menu on Tuesday, June 7, is a chicken rice bake or spaghetti with meat sauce, mixed vegetables, tossed salad, a seven-grain roll and a key lime bar.

Strawberry fest begins Thursday
The Strawberry Festival will be in full festival mode, from Thursday, June 2, to Sunday, June 5 at Cheadle Lake Park, 37919 Weirich Drive, Lebanon.
The festival runs from 4 to 11 p.m. Thursday; events include a national anthem and flag presentation at 5 p.m., followed by the coronation of the Strawberry Festival queen at 5:30 p.m. Hours are 3 p.m. to midnight Friday; highlights include a 2:30 p.m. downtown junior parade. Events run from 1 p.m. to midnight Saturday, with a 9:30 a.m. run/walk at the American Legion, 480 S. Main St .; the 11 a.m. grand parade, which begins at Walmart, 3290 S. Santiam Hwy., and end at the American Legion; and free strawberry shortcake from 1 to 5 p.m.
The live entertainment slate features headliners Jo Dee Messina at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, James Otto at 6:45 p.m. and Jackson Michelson at 8:30 p.m. Friday, and former Journey vocalist Steve Augeri at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, followed by a weekend-culminating fireworks display at 10 p.m.
Tickets are $8 general (13 and over) before June 2, $10 daily at the gate; $25 for a season pass; and free for children 12 and under. First-responders, linemen, active military personnel and veterans will be admitted free on Thursday, June 2. All concerts are included in the general admission charge. Carnival ride bracelets, which are not included in that charge, are $30 presale and $40 onsite. Parking is free.
The festival will cause multiple temporary road closures and traffic delays within the city’s main arteries. Detour signs will be in place for traffic on highways 20 and 34. Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes, if possible, to help with congestion.

Guitars Under the Stars early tickets
Early-bird tickets for the fifth annual Guitars Under the Stars, scheduled for July 29-30 at Cheadle Lake Park, must be purchased by Wednesday, June 1.
The lineup includes such performers as Mark Mendoza (Twisted Sister), Stu Hamm, Jeff Scott Soto (Yngwie Malmsteen, Journey), Ron Keel (Keel, Steeler and Saber Tiger), Chris Poland (Megadeth), Mark Heylmun (Suicide Silence), Thöm Häzäert, Ernie Iniguez (Quietude, Salimus), Brandon Cook (The Loyal Order, Black N’ Blue), Jason Bieler (Saigon Kick), Chris Martucci (Stone Sour, Black Star Riders). Among the featured bands are Lilac, The Loyal Order, Sweater for an Astronaut and ED to Shred.

Tickets available for county fair
Reserved seating tickets are now available for main stage entertainment at the Linn County Fair, scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, July 14-16, at the Linn County Expo Center, 3700 Knox Butte Road E, Albany.
Fair hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
This year’s headliners include Sara Evans on July 14, Five for Fighting on July 15 and Sawyer Brown on July 16. All performances begin at 8:30 p.m.
General seating is free with daily admission ($7 general, $5 seniors over 60 and free for children 12 and under), but reserved seats are $22-$30. Daily parking is $5.
Three-day passes are $21 general, $15 for seniors and FFA/4-H members and $15 for parking. A family fun pack for the carnival is $120, which is good for any single day of the fair and includes four general admission tickets and four all-day carnival wristbands. A Pick-Your-Day Fun Pack, which includes one of each item, is available for $35. An all-day carnival wristband is available for $32 by Sunday, July 10.

PEO fundraisers set for education
The Sweet Home PEO, Chapter DD, is holding its annual garage sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, June 17, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at the Sweet Home Evangelical Church, 1347 Long St.
Orders for flash-frozen blueberries and Columbia star blackberries will also be taken through July 7 at $25 for a nine-pound pail.
All proceeds sponsor local women’s scholarships.

Sweet Home Sweet Ride lands June 25
The Sweet Home Sweet Ride charity car show for children will run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 25, on the track and field at Sweet Home Junior High School, 880 22nd Ave.
The event will feature cars, pickups, motorcycles, 4-by-4s, semis, log trucks and vintage trailers. Activities include a burn-out pit, 50/50, vendor alley, a poker walk, music and more than 100 trophies. A food court will also be available.
Entries for the burn-out pit are $10 per vehicle for a first pass and $2 for each additional pass. Veterans’ vehicles with insignias are admitted free.

Gardening classes offered in Lebanon
Free gardening classes are offered on second Tuesdays through Oct. 11 at the Lebanon Senior Center, 80 Tangent St.
Sessions will be held at 10 a.m., beginning with a question-and-answer session followed by short lectures on gardening as outlined below:
— June 14: “Organic Nutrients/Companion Planting.”
— July 12: “Planting a Winter Garden in July.”
— Aug. 9: “When to Harvest.”
— Sept. 13: “Cover Crops for Your Garden.”

Reunion set for SH Class of 1977
Sweet Home High School’s Class of 1977 is celebrating its 45-year reunion Saturday and Sunday, July 16-17, with a series of events at various locations.
A walk will begin, weather permitting, at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the upper parking lot at McDowell Creek Falls County Park, 43170 McDowell Creek Drive, Lebanon. A meet and greet follows at 2 p.m. at Pineway Golf Course, 30949 Pineway Road, Lebanon, with conversations to catch up and discuss the “Kids Don’t Float” fundraiser life jacket loaner locations at Foster Lake and Camp Attitude. A buffet dinner will be served at 5 p.m. The cost for the latter is $25 per person. Umpqua Bank has an account for the deposit of the dinner cost and fundraiser donations.
Sunday features an 11 a.m. worship invitation, followed by a 12:30 classmate potluck and sandwich lunch at Freedom Hill Church, 2470 Main St., Sweet Home.
