Meals on Wheels weekly menu
Meals on Wheels offers take-out lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The menu on Friday, Nov. 18, is chicken pastina or three-cheese lasagna, peas and carrots, a garden vegetable salad, a herb roll and yellow cake.
The menu on Monday, Nov. 21, is a chicken breast supreme or a vegetarian pot pie, garlic whipped potatoes, carrots, potato bread and mandarin oranges.
The menu on Tuesday, Nov. 22, is a Thanksgiving special featuring roasted turkey with gravy or sliced ham with pineapple glaze, whipped sweet potatoes, a Scandinavian vegetable blend, whole wheat bread and baked pumpkin custard.

Fire, police offer holiday programs
The Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District is accepting applications to its Christmas for Kids Sharing Tree toy program.
Sweet Home Police Department is currently accepting applications to its Teen Sharing Tree and Shop with a Cop program.
The programs are open to underprivileged children in the Sweet Home community.
Applications to the fire district, for children 12 and younger, are available at the “Sweet Home Sharing Tree” Facebook page. Applications to the Police Department program for children in seventh through 12th grade and Shop with a Cop, for children ages 4-12, will be available on the city’s website, sweethomeor.gov.
Paper applications for the Teen Sharing Tree and Shop with a Cop will be available at the Police Department, 1950 Main St.
The deadline to submit applications to the sharing trees is Dec. 2. The deadline to submit applications for the Shop with a Cop program is Nov. 25.
In the sharing tree programs, names of children and families are written on tags and placed on the sharing trees. Anyone who wants to help is invited to visit the fire hall or police department and choose a name or multiple names from the tree. Donors are welcome to contribute for entire families.
Tags will be available at the Fire Hall, 1099 Long St., and Sweet Home Police Department, 1950 Main St., beginning the second week of November.
Donors purchase an item or items listed on the tag, wrap the gifts and then return them to the by Dec. 7. Tags that are left on the sharing trees will be taken by local department personnel, who will purchase gifts to fill those requests.
Those requesting gifts from the fire district will be able to pick them up Dec. 15-16 at the former City Hall. The Police Department will distribute them on Dec. 14.
Cash donations to the “Christmas for Kids Sharing Tree” toy programs may be made between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. at the Fire & Ambulance District office, 1099 Long St., Donations to children’s programs at Sweet Home Police Department, 1950 Main St., may be given 24 hours a day. All cash donations will be used to purchase toys and needed clothing for local children. Funds donated to the Police Department also may be used to help pay for Shop with a Cop and other children’s programs.
Applications are also available for the Dec. 3 Police Department’s Shop with a Cop program on the city’s website at https://bit.ly/3suGQG0. Paper forms are available at the department. The program is open to children 4 through 12.
During Shop with a Cop, children will receive credit to shop at Bi-Mart with police officers. Treats and hot chocolate will be available. They’ll get to meet Blue Santa, and members of the Sportsman’s Holiday Court will assist them in wrapping gifts.

Sparkle Bazaar returns to Albany
The Holiday Sparkle Bazaar will return for its fifth year on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18-19, at the American Legion, 1215 Pacific Blvd SE, Albany.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
Vendor space is still available for crafters, creators of edible specialties, and home-based business representatives. The event is sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Albany Unit 10, with proceeds used to provide scholarships for Albany-area high school girls.

‘Elf: The Musical’ wraps in Corvallis
The Majestic Theatre’s run of “Elf: the Musical” culminates this weekend in the Starker Auditorium at the theater, 115 SW 2nd St. in Corvallis.
Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 17-18. Matinees are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19-20.

Bazaar vendor booths available
A number of vendor booths remain available for the annual Town & Country Christmas Bazaar to be held Dec. 2-4 at the Linn County Fair & Expo Center, 3700 Knox Butte Road East, Albany.
This year’s bazaar will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 3, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4. Admission is $2 for adults and children admitted free.

First Friday focus on holiday love
Lebanon Downtown Association and downtown merchants will present a First Friday event themed “A ‘Hallmark’ Holiday Love Story Between a Small Town and Its Community” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2.
The event will be cohosted by Bloom Boutique and Tea House, 712 S. Main St. It will include carolers, treats, cocoa, crafts, a gift drive, and an appearance by The Grinch and Santa.

American Legion hosts bazaar
The American Legion Auxiliary will hold a Christmas Bazaar Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and 3, at American Legion Santiam Post 51, 480 S. Main St., Lebanon.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Lunch will be available for purchase both days.

Grief seminar scheduled Dec. 9
Mennonite Village will host “Grief and the Holidays” from 1 to 2:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Lakeside Center, 5353 Columbus St., S.E., Albany.
The presentation and discussion will address the many complications that can arise during the holiday season and ways that individuals can cope and potentially thrive.
While the bulk of the discussion will center around grief related to the death of a loved one, it will also address the grief that comes from life experiences, including those brought about by the pandemic.

Breakfast with Santa in Albany
Have Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Historic Carousel and Museum at 503 First Ave. W., Albany.
Tickets are $25 per person and include a complete breakfast, a Christmas carol concert by the South Albany High School Choir, a craft for each table to complete while waiting to visit with Santa, and a professional photo of the one-on-one visit with Santa, along with a gift and personalized note from St. Nick.
