Depth and talent were the keys for the boys and girls track and field squads Friday and Saturday as they both brought home trophies from the state track and field championships at Hayward Field in Eugene Saturday.
The boys, thanks to some clutch performances and a monster school-record-breaking effort by the 4×400 relay team, scored 77 points to outscore second-place Ontario, which finished with 44.
Junior Dakotah Keys finished with three state titles, in the pole vault, long jump and 110 hurdles, and second place in the javelin €“ after losing that event on the final throw.
The girls finished with 48 points, behind first-place Henley’s 75.5, to take fourth. Sophomore Maria Kropf won three state titles, in the long jump, 100-meter dash and the 100 hurdles, and anchored the 4×100 girls relay team to first place.
