Christmas continues

Living Nativity, parade, carriage rides on schedule for this weekend

Sweet Home’s Christmas events will be back in full swing this weekend with the rescheduled parade and the Living Nativity and carriage rides at East Linn Museum.

The Christmas parade is rescheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday after its cancellation due to snow on Dec. 7.

The good news for anyone not on top of things initially is that they have a second chance to participate.

“We are continuing to take parade applications,” said Sherri Pagliari, Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center coordinator. The deadline for parade applications is Friday.

The route runs from 22nd Avenue to 10th Avenue, she said. Entries should be at Husky Field via 22nd Avenue no later than 9:30 a.m. Judging starts at 10 a.m.

No one has requested a rescheduling of the annual tree lighting, said Sherri Pagliari, and the event remains canceled. The tree is lit.

Coffee and refreshments already purchased for the lighting has been given to the Veterans of Foreign Wars for its membership meetings.

Chamber staff will continue to support everyone else who is running events, Pagliari said.

The Living Nativity continues Saturday evening at East Linn Museum, located at the intersections of Long, Highway 228 and Highway 20.

The Nativity may be seen from 5 to 7 p.m. During that time, Chafin Farms is offering free carriage rides.

The Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church choir and Ray Hendricks provided music last Saturday. Next Saturday, John McIntosh and Steve Burtch will perform.
