Jan. 19, 1910-Dec. 2, 2006
Doris Fae (Wooley) Tracy, 96, of Albany died Dec. 2, 2006. She was born Jan. 19, 1910 to James and Addie Wooley in Sisseton, S.D. She grew up there on the family farm and graduated from high school. After graduation she moved to Minneapolis, Minn. and worked in a hotel.
In 1930 she moved to Los Angeles where she was cashier at the original Brown Derby and later owned and operated her own cafe, called the Canary Cage. She later moved to the San Fernando Valley and lived next door to Glen Randall, the trainer of the original Trigger for Roy Rogers. One of her greatest memories was being able to spend time with these folks, Trigger and other famous horses of days gone by.
In 1946 she moved to Sunny Valley. She owned and operated the Deer Lodge restaurant and bar with her husband, F.C. Tracy Sr. Her daughter Janene was born in 1948. The Tracys moved to Medford in 1958 and then she moved to Sweet Home in 1985, following her husband’s death, to be close to her brother, Jerry Wooley and sister, Mildred Birdsall.
She enjoyed their families and looked forward to every new addition and presenting a crocheted baby blanket. She enjoyed the many friends she made through the Sweet Home Elks Lodge and was a member of the Elkettes.
She is survived by her daughter, Janene Brown and husband Gary Brown of Libby, Mont.; stepson, F.C. ‘Fred’ Tracy of Prineville; and many wonderful nieces and nephews of her very large family.
Preceding her in death were her brothers, Lloyd Wooley, Wayne Wooley, Leo Wooley and Jerry Wooley; and sisters, Dorothy Carter and Mildred Birdsall.
Viewing will take place between 9 a.m. and noon Thursday, Dec. 7, at Workman and Steckly Funeral Home. A funeral will follow at 1 p.m.
