World Art Drop Day was celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 5, in Sweet Home by Annette Reisbick when she “dropped” a couple pieces of her knitted work around town. World Art Drop Day is a day for artists of all media to place original works of art in a community to be found by passersby.
When he started the event in 2018, founder Jake Parker said, “We need to feel a little more connection to each other and there’s nothing like the bond two random strangers can make through the act of creating and giving.”
Reisbick, of Sweet Home, showed the informational tag that was attached to art pieces hidden around Sweet Home and Lebanon. She said she used to be a school bus driver, so she knitted a scarf that looked like a school bus. That particular piece was left for someone to find on a sign at the school’s transportation parking lot. The tag asks the finder to take a picture and share it with the Linn County Arts Guild.
This was one of two hand-knitted pieces Reisbick “dropped” in Sweet Home on that day.
