Ella Mae Youngblood, 87, of Albany, a former Sweet Home resident, died July 14, 2008 at Samaritan Albany General Hospital. She was born on Christmas Day 1920 in Morrilton, Ark. to Tom and Callie (Grady) Rogers.
She lived in Morrilton until she married Jesse D. Youngblood on July 18, 1935. They then moved to the West Coast.
The Youngbloods lived in Sweet Home for 52 years. Mrs. Youngblood spent her days as a homemaker. She enjoyed crafts, sewing and painting. She was a member of the Art Society for over 20 years and enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to draw, paint and sew. She inspired many people to be creative.
Mrs. Youngblood is survived by her three children, James Youngblood and his wife Darlene of Eugene, Virginia Lovitt and her husband Ken of Lynnwood, Wash., and Ella Mavin Baker and her husband Delbert of Brownsville; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years in 2004; her firstborn son Willis Youngblood, who died at age 4, and her parents.
A graveside service was held July 16 at Lewis Cemetery.
