The nonprofit Sweet Home Community Foundation was formed in 1997. It provides annual funding to local organizations for a wide variety of projects and activities that provide lasting improvements to the community.

Much of the funding for SHCF, until recently, has come from the Oregon Jamboree. In recent years, funding has primarily been through the donations of those who live and work in the East Linn County area and the SHCF has continued to grow a permanent endowment fund to serve the community’s future.

The most significant of those has been a $202,000 gift in 2012 to the Sweet Home Community Foundation by Lou Blaser of Lebanon, in memory of his deceased wife, Alice Blaser, a former Sweet Home teacher.

Grants are given in the following categories: Children and Families, Education, Livability and Arts and Culture.
