Sweet Home Gleaners this month is celebrating its 35th anniversary of serving the community and distributing gleaned food and other items to its members.
COVID-19 postponed the 2021 celebration.
The Gleaners has been blessed by the community donating items to sell in its fundraising thrift store.
The month-long celebration includes the unveiling of the new Gleaner Information Station, a floor remodel and store specials.
Volunteers have worked to make the thrift store the best little “nonprofit” thrift store in Linn County. It offers an ISO (in search of) service to patrons looking for something special.
Potential members must fulfill three requirements to be eligible to join:
— Applicants must live in the Gleaners’ service area, from Brownsville to Sweet Home to Cascadia;
— Their household income must be within 300% of the current federal poverty level;
— Members must not belong to any other gleaning group.
New applicants will receive an orientation during normal business hours between noon and 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
