Grampa Tom’s car show brings out the classics

Grampa’s Choice at the 16th Annual Grampa Tom’s Get-Together Car Show,held Saturday and Sunday, June 13-14, at the Cedar Shack, was a black 1923 Ford Model T Roadster owned by Ron Hotrum of Lebanon and the Willamette Valley Model T Club.

Best of Show was a dark red 1957 Chevy Bel Air owned by Malcolm A. and Jackie Grouix of Clatskanie and the Clatskanie Cruisers. They received the award for traveling the farthest.

Participants Choice was a black 1956 Chevy pickup owned by Ron Smith Sweet Home and the Rollin’ Oldies.

The Rollin’ Oldies of Lebanon was the club with the most entries.

Total, the car show, held over the weekend at the Cedar Shack, had 72 entries. The Second Annual Motorcycle-Bike Show had 13 entries.

Grampa’s Choice in the motorcycle show was a white 1946 Indian Chief owned by Les Jensen of Sweet Home. The same bike won the Vintage (1934-54) trophy.

– Mr. Kool: Mel and Terry Hayes of Sweet Home, 1959 Chevy Impala two-door hardtop.

– Street Rods: Fred Dyson of Rainier, bronze and beige1933 Ford two-door sedan, first place; Denny and Barbara Rice of Kings Valley, yellow 1931 Chevy Roadster, second place.

– Pre-40s: Edmund Murray of Lebanon, yellow 1929 Ford Model A Roadster, first; Steve and Bonnie Larsen, silver 1934 Chevy Sportster, second.

– 40s: Bob and Marie Raymond of Creswell, 1940 Ford Coupe, first; Bob and Judi Green of Sweet Home, Plymouth Coupe, second.

– 50s: Lawrence and Irene Hird of Dorena, 1950 Mercury six-passenger coupe, first.

– 60s: Larry Angland of Sweet Home, blue 1965 Chevy Corvette, first; Dale Porter of Lebanon, 1966 Ford Mustang, second.

– 70s and Best MOPAR: Steve and Sharon Makinson of Sweet Home, Orange 1970 Dodge Challenger. Second place for 70s went to Roger and Becky Logue of Albany for a 1972 Chevy Fleetside.

– 80s and newer: Carl Yardley of Sweet Home, 1999 Pontiac Trans Am, first; Jim Neal of Sweet Home, tan 1987 Ford Ranger, second.

– Pickup: Vaughn and Joyce Blasingame of Scio, 1956 Ford F-100, first; Ken McMackin of Albany, maroon 1956 Ford, second.

– Convertible: Loren and Carol Stogsdill of Lebanon, blue 1966 Ford Galaxy, first; Frank Harms of Albany, red 1929 Ford Roadster, second.

– Under Construction: Bob and Mike Hubler of Cascadia, black 1946 Ford Coupe.

– Costume/Display, Best Ford and second place 50s: Roy and Bernice Jamieson of Rainier, red and white 1956 Ford Club “S.”

– Best Chevy: Dean and Marcy Anderson, matador red 1957 Chevy Bel Air two-door hardtop.

– Best Luxury: Scott and Fran Perkins of Waldport, red 1969 Jaguar XKE 2+2.

– Best Orphan: Richard McCrady of Cottage Grove, 1955 Nash Metropolitan.

– Best Original: Ray Lundgren of Albany, 1970 Triumph Spitfire.

– Best Foreign, Jay Westly of Sweet Home, red 1971 Triumph TR-6 convertible.

– Most Unusual: Danny Wilson of Sweet Home, blue 1970 Volkswagen Bug.

Motorcycle and bike awards

– Dresser: Joe Sanchez of Sweet Home, purple and silver 2001 Harley Ultra.

– Custom: Les Jensen of Sweet Home, white 2003 Indian Scout.

– Old School Chopper: Dennis Whaley of Sweet Home, 1986 Harley Heritage Soft Tail.

– Sport Bike: Abe deJonge, silver and blue 2005 Harley Soft Tail Deuce.

– Stock: Sandra deJonge of Sweet Home, blue and silver 2006 Harley Soft Tail Springer.

– Woman Rider: Diana Jensen of Sweet Home, cherry red 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan.

– Kid’s Ride, 7 and younger: Jasmine Dalton of Sweet Home.

– Kid’s Ride, 8 and older: Ally Dalton of Sweet Home.
