Henry Herman Anderegg, of Sweet Home, formerly of Forest Grove, died Friday afternoon, April 21, 2006, at his home.
Mr. Anderegg was born May 30, 1915, in Beaverton, the son of the late Andrew Anderegg and Rosa (Roth) Anderegg. At the age of 12 he moved with his family to Clackamas, where he was raised and received his education.
He married Isabel Dimbat on Aug. 24, 1935, in Damascus, Ore. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last August. Following their marriage they resided in Portland until 1948, when they moved to Vernonia. They lived in the Vernonia community for more than 30 years until the early 1980s, when they moved to Forest Grove. In August of 2003 they moved to the Sweet Home community, to be near a son and family.
While living in the Vernonia area, Mr. Anderegg owned and operated the Vernonia Milk Farms, processing and delivering milk for 20 years, from 1948 to 1968. He later owned and operated the Vernonia Bowling Lanes from 1971 to 1975.
He was a lifetime member of the Odd Fellows Lodge #246 and a member of the Vernonia Grange #305, Natal Grange, and Forest Grove Grange for more than 50 years; a member of the United Swiss and a charter member of the Forest Grove Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #2440. While his children were growing up, he served as a 4-H leader in Vernonia for seven years. He also served as mayor of the city of Vernonia from 1981 to 1984.
Among his special interests he enjoyed deer hunting, bowling, fishing and clamdigging.
Survivors include his wife, Isabel Anderegg of Sweet Home; his daughter and son-in-law, Jean Ann and Robert Borders of Richland; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ron Anderegg of Los Angeles, Calif .; and Pastor Ralph and Nancy Anderegg of Sweet Home; his brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Beulah “Billie” Anderegg, of Clackamas; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Rose and Paul Meyer of Portland, Helen Lauman of Milwaukie and Edna Bolken of Gladstone; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Anderegg was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Walter Anderegg.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at the Vernonia Funeral Home, with the Pastor Ralph Anderegg and Pastor Hank Ford officiating. Concluding rites and interment will follow at the Vernonia Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following, to be held at the Vernonia Senior Center.
