In the competitive landscape of the Oregon West Conference, the Sweet Home High School boys basketball team (4-15) is showcasing their resilience and determination through a season of ups and downs. Despite facing challenges, the team’s recent performances against North Marion (14-6) and Stayton (8-9) highlight their fighting spirit and potential for growth.
On Jan. 29, the Huskies took to their home court in a league matchup against North Marion, where they lost 46-65. This game was putting them against one of the stronger teams in the conference. Despite the loss, the Huskies were able to showcase their ability to compete at a high level.
The narrative took a turn on Feb. 1, when SHHS secured a narrow 54-53 victory against Stayton in an away game. This win was a significant morale booster for the team, as it marked their first win in the Oregon West Conference. The victory against Stayton not only ended a challenging streak but also served as a testament to the team’s hard work and strategic execution on the court.
Currently standing 1-5 in the Oregon West Conference, the Huskies are ranked #189 in the state. While these numbers reflect the hurdles the team has faced this season, they also underscore the potential for improvement and success in future contests.
