John McArdle has joined Linn-Benton Community College as the new Development Director of College Advancement and Foundation office effective March 1.
McArdle has 24 years experience in the non-profit and public sectors, spending the last 15 years as Director of Development at Western Oregon University. He holds a BS in Community Service Public Administration and a BS in Recreation and Park Management, both from University of Oregon.
McArdle will be responsible for generating resources for student scholarships and endowments along with fund raising for LBCC programs.
He looks forward to meeting the public and addressing the needs of LBCC.
“LBCC has great people, good leadership, clear direction and lots of positive energy,” said McArdle. “We are surrounded by communities that obviously love the community college.”
McArdle currently resides in Independence with his wife, Patty Nevue, and son. He is in his fourth term as Mayor of Independence. McArdle is actively involved in the community, as a board member of the chamber of commerce since 1990 and as a founding member of the local YMCA. The Independence/Monmouth Chamber of Commerce recently awarded McArdle Citizen of the Year for his contributions to the community.
McArdle is also an active member of Mid-Willamette Council of Governments since 1999 and is immediate past president and board member of the Oregon Mayor’s Association. He has been a leader in the USA Track and Field, and past board member of the U.S. Olympic Committee.
