Man arrested after SWAT response in Holley

Sheriff’s deputies made an arrest in a domestic disturbance that resulted in the response of the Linn County Regional SWAT to the Holley area on Memorial Day.

According to Sheriff Tim Mueller, at 4:16 a.m. Monday, May 31, the 911 dispatch center received a call from the residence located at 25151 McClun Road. The caller told 911 she had been assaulted and threatened with a firearm by Ryan Joe Richard Holley, 34. The victim was identified as Maja Howery, 23, who lives at the residence with Holley.

When deputies arrived, they found Howery had fled the residence and was hiding in the brush waiting for deputies. Deputies further learned that Holley had been using illegal drugs and had threatened suicide. A perimeter was established around the residence and SWAT was called out.

Members of SWAT made several attempts to contact Holley at which time they searched the residence and found Holley had fled prior to their arrival, Mueller said.

At 12:25 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a call from Dwayne Clark, 53, who lives approximately one mile from Holley’s residence. Muller said Clark told a dispatcher that he lived nearby and that Holley had shown up at his residence. Clark said he had Holley detained at gunpoint. Deputies who were at the scene processing evidence, immediately responded and took Holley into custody without incident.

Holley was lodged in the Linn County Jail and charged with assault IV, menacing, strangulation and unlawful use of a weapon.
