Marjorie Ann Vinson, 76, died peacefully in her home with her family by her side in Wapato, Wash. on Jan. 8, 2009.
She was born June 12, 1932 in Arlington, Calif.
She and her high school sweetheart, Cecil D. Vinson, married Jan. 13, 1950. They shared a 59-year marriage, in which their complete devotion to their family and their work was paramount. They enjoyed many travels together, and with extended family, throughout the Oregon Cascades and Oregon Coast, Hawaii, Mexico, Alaska, Japan, Thailand, Macau, and four separate trips to China.
Over Mrs. Vinson’s lifetime, she lived in San Bernardino, Redlands, and Barstow, Calif.; Weyerhaeuser Camp #4 near Klamath Falls, Sweet Home and Pendleton; and moved to the Yakima Valley 38 years ago, where she said, “This is home.”
She attended Sweet Home High School, Yakima Valley Community College, and Central Washington University. Mrs. Vinson was employed by Pendleton Public Schools, Yakima Valley Community College, and managed the business affairs of her and her husband’s apple orchard. She enjoyed many creative years doing stained glass art work and teaching metaphysical subjects.
Mrs. Vinson is survived by her husband, Cecil, of Wapato; her daughter, Sharon Murphy and son-in-law Roger Fruci, of Spokane, Wash.; sons Dan Vinson of Cornville, Ariz., and Mike Vinson, of Canton, Ga.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, D. Clyde and Gladys Foltz; and her brothers Carl and Lloyd Foltz.
Per her request, there will be no service. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Merritt Funeral Home, Wapato. Wash.
