Maxine Cox, 83, of Sweet Home, died March 31, 2006 at her home.
She was born Jan. 12, 1923, in Bernice, Okla., to Joseph and Octavia (Stewart) Miller. Her family moved to Washington after the death of her father.
She married James Floyd Cox on Feb. 10, 1939. They lived in Washington until Nov. 4, 1944, when they moved to Sweet Home.
She was part owner in Juverne’s Ladies Clothing Store. She and her husband retired in 1973, and they spent 15 years going to California. She loved fishing, camping, and baking. She was an excellent cook. She belonged to Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge in Sweet Home.
She is survived by her daughters, Marjorie (and Jim) Warner of Sweet Home and Sue Chenoweth of Lebanon; one granddaughter; three great-granddaughters; a great-great-grandson; sister, Nadine Johnson of Centralia, Wash., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; her sister, Margaret; brothers, Joseph, Walter, Stewart and Max (her twin) Miller.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel.
