Meridian Heights Loop closing to traffic Aug. 13

Meridian Heights Loop will be closed to traffic Saturday, Aug. 13, for road resurfacing, the Linn County Road Dept. has announced.

Sierra Santa Fe Corp. is scheduled to apply a product known as Liquid Road to the asphalt pavement surface of Meridian Heights. Liquid Road is a polymer-modified, fiber-reinforced asphalt emulsion surface treatment with an embedded fine aggregate to provide surface friction and durability.

Work is expected to last from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The schedule is subject to change.

The purpose of the treatment is to seal and protect the asphalt pavement from deterioration. Asphalt pavement deteriorates in response to chemical dissolution (oil, diesel, grease and gas), oxidation, UV radiation, and moisture pene-tration.

Meridian Heights Loop will be closed to traffic while this work is being performed. No vehicles will be allowed onto Meridian Heights Loop until the product has cured sufficiently. Depending on environmental conditions, this can take up to four hours or more.

Residents who need to travel during that time should park off-site.
