Ryan Kelly Rikala, 31, who fled officers on April 3 after crashing into a Sweet Home Police Department vehicle was arrested on May 4.
“We were able to receive information from a concerned citizen about (Rikala’s) whereabouts,” said SHPD Chief Jeff Lynn.
The citizen spotted Rikala on 10th Avenue and officers located him near South Hills Trail.
Rikala attempted to flee from officers again on May 4, Lynn said, but was taken into custody without incident.
He was arrested for possession of burglary tools, a state warrant for parole violation, a Lebanon warrant for failure to appear on a criminal citation and a Linn County warrant for failure to appear on original charges of resisting arrest and third-degree escape.
According to court documents, Rikala is charged with two counts of fleeing or attempting to elude police officers, reckless driving, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree attempted assault, attempted assault of a public safety officer, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, second-degree criminal trespass, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a burglary tool or theft device.
The state filed a notice of intent to seek an enhanced sentence.
On April 3, police pursued Rikala from Elm Street to Upper Calapooia Drive where a Ford Ranger driven by Rikala collided with a patrol vehicle, a Dodge Charger. The officer driving the vehicle was apparently uninjured.
