Linn County deputies arrested a Sweet Home woman early Sunday, July 29, in connection to the stabbing of a 58-year-old Sweet Home man.
Nancy Edwards, 56, was lodged at Linn County Jail on charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
Linn County Undersheriff Paul Timm reported that deputies responded to a report of the stabbing in the 28000 block of Pleasant Valley Road 12:38 a.m. Sunday. The owner of the property, Michael Speck, called 9-1-1 to report he had been stabbed by his ex-girlfriend.
Speck and Edwards had ended their relationship, but he was allowing her to temporarily stay in an outbuilding on the property, Timm said. The two argued early in the morning because Speck wanted Edwards to move off his property and find another place to live, according to a Sheriff’s statement.
After being stabbed, Speck locked himself inside the house and called 9-1-1, Timm said. While on the phone with 9-1-1 dispatchers, Edwards allegedly broke through a sliding glass door in attempt to attack Speck again, according to the statement.
Deputies arrived at the residence and placed Edwards under arrest.
Medics transported Speck by ambulance to the Lebanon Community Hospital. He transferred to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. Speck’s lung was punctured, but he is listed as being in stable condition, the statement said.
Detectives are continuing the investigation. Anyone with information regarding the stabbing is asked to contact Detective John Lovik at (541) 967-3950.
