Cancer survivors who have received treatment at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital can learn fun art skills through four free workshops throughout the month of March.
ArtsCare, a partnership between Samaritan Health Services and the Arts Center in Corvallis, will host the workshops on Saturdays in March for cancer survivors, as well as their caregivers. Artists from the Arts Center will lead the workshops, which will run from 10 a.m. to noon at the hospital.
The schedule includes:
Saturday, March 3, Conference Room E: Learn freestyle painting with Lucy Johnson. Lucy is an arts educator from Albany who has taught art throughout the region and in Australia and Turkey.
Saturday, March 10, Conference Room 3: Join Michelle Flamez for a lesson in card-making. Michelle has been teaching craft-type arts including scrapbooking, card-making and stamps for 14 years.
Saturday, March 17, Conference Room E: Leetra Taylor will have a St. Patrick’s Day surprise! Leetra specializes in doll-making, and she enjoys bringing this type of art into schools.
Saturday, March 24, Conference Room E: Jan Wilcox will lead an exercise with hand-made paper. Jan is a master of basket-making and weaving, and she is known for her love and imaginative use of natural materials.
Saturday, March 31, Conference Room E: Learn how to make garden tiles with Holly Dubrasich, who owns Leaf in the Wind Studios in Lebanon. Holly works with dialysis patients on a weekly basis and sells her pottery throughout the Northwest.
The goal of ArtsCare is to enhance the health care experience for patients, visitors and employees by integrating art and music into the health care setting.
