Sweet Home Community Foundation announces 2026 grants

The Sweet Home Community Foundation has announced its 2026 Community Grant recipients.

SHCF annually awards community grants to local projects and organizations that provide lasting improvements to the Sweet Home community.

According to President Bob Burford, $28,000 was awarded in this round.

Grants were awarded in the following categories: Children and Families, Education, Livability and Arts & Culture

2026 SHCF Community Grant recipients are:

o Hawthorne School PTC – funds to purchase ADA accessible playground equipment.

o The Sweet Home Pregnancy Care Center –  funds to purchase car seats for newborn babies and pre-natal vitamins.

o Sweet Home Emergency Ministries (SHEM) – funds to purchase a new commercial refrigerator.

o The MIKE Healthcare Program – funds to provide mentored health education, healthcare career exploration and a youth leadership summit in conjunction with the SHSD. MIKE is a Portland nonprofit whose mission is to educate and mentor unserved students to pursue healthy and productive lifestyles.

o Sweet Home Youth Baseball – funds for local baseball field improvements.

o Meals on Wheels – funds for the Sweet Home area meal program.

o Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce – funds to purchase additional tables and chairs for community groups and events.

o Lake Town Academy – funding for a student greenhouse for academic studies.

This year’s Community Grants were funded by local individuals through the Sweet Home Community Foundation Endowment and the Tim and Jo Ann McQueary – Leave a Local Legacy Endowment.

The grants are only possible through the generosity of local businesses and individuals who annually support SHCF.

Any individual, family or estate, can establish a named endowment under the SHCF’s tax deductible, “Leave a Local Legacy” program. These endowments can annually gift funds to local projects under the family fund name. This program assures that a family or loved one will be permanently remembered by the community.
