Sweet Home woman killed in north Corvallis crash

Deputies from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate a two-vehicle fatal motor vehicle crash involving a coupe and a sport utility vehicle, less than a mile east of Corvallis.

The collision resulted in the death of a 62-year-old Sweet Home woman, Connie Davis.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, at about 12:56 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6, a 2010 Mazda Miata coupe driven by Scott Manning Davis, 67, of Sweet Home, was headed eastbound on Highway 20, west of Circle Boulevard in Corvallis, when Davis attempted to turn left on Circle Boulevard on a green light.

A 2004 Honda Pilot sport utility vehicle driven by Gordon Francis Bollinger, 77, of Corvallis hit the passenger side of the Miata. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Bollinger also had a green light and had the right of way in the intersection.

Both vehicles stopped in the intersection of Highway 20 and Circle Boulevard.

The Corvallis Fire Department arrived and extricated Connie Lee Davis from the front passenger seat of the Miata. She was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis by an ambulance with critical injuries. She was pronounced deceased at Good Samaritan Hospital at about 1:50 p.m.

Scott Manning was also transported to Good Samaritan with non-critical injuries.

Bollinger was not transported to the hospital.

Traffic was rerouted around the scene for approximately one hour.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, drugs, alcohol, and speed do not seem to be factors in the crash.

The Benton County District Attorney’s Office has been contacted and investigation is continuing.
