Rhiannon Stiles clearly appreciated the stone she held Thursday evening as she showed a visitor a display of Native American tools at the East Linn Museum.
“It fits right in my hand,” she said, folding her fingers around the curved face of the grindstone, which then fit cleanly into a trough that, centuries ago, likely held edible grains or seeds.
“It’s amazing.”
Nearby, Chase Boyd was seated on a an old pew, deep in a book, reading about the first medical doctor to come to Sweet Home – a woman, he noted, Susan Powell Russell, in 1851.
“I’m going to write a research report and put it in the Medical Room,” he said. “A lot of people here want that information.”
