Two Sweet Home men were arrested Saturday, Feb. 11, in connection with a reported robbery that occurred Friday morning, Feb. 10, in the 2000 block of Birch Street in Sweet Home.
According to Sheriff Bruce Riley, at 7:07 a.m. Friday, the Linn County 911 Dispatch Center received a call from a victim and deputies responded to the residence.
The 56-year-old male victim told deputies that morning he woke up to find an adult male wearing a ski mask standing over him, shining a light in his eyes and demanding money.
The victim resisted and was choked by the suspect during the altercation.
The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and several knives from the residence.
The victim had minor injuries and refused any medical treatment.
On Saturday morning, at approximately 8 a.m., Sheriff’s detectives arrested Steven Dale Bergevin, 28, of Sweet Home.
Later, at approximately 3 p.m. Saturday, Sheriff’s detectives arrested Joshua Gerald Wooley, 22, of Sweet Home.
Wooley was arrested after coming into the Sweet Home Police Department regarding an unrelated matter. Linn County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Sweet Home Police Department, who helped locate and arrest both suspects, according to a sheriff’s statement.
Both men were lodged in Linn County Jail on charges of first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery, strangulation and second-degree theft.
