Underclassmen Paulus, Horner football MVPs

Junior Wade Paulus and sophomore Austin Horner were voted Most Valuable Players by the Sweet Home High School football team during the team’s annual awards dessert held on Monday.

Additionally, Paulus was named the Sky-Em Offensive and Defensive MVP.

Senior Jerohn Coleman and Paulus were selected the Most Inspirational.

Seniors Scottie Stockman and Ty Harvey and junior David Skeen were Most Improved.

Outstanding Linemen were Jesse Comstock and Coleman.

Paulus was Best Back.

Top Defensive Players were junior Colton Schilling and Horner.

Juniors Trever Olson and Quin Wise and senior Brice Vandenberg received the Dick Reynolds Coaches Award.

Earning their first letters in football were Lorenzo Virgin, Avery Shamek, Cory Martin, Brice Vandenberg, Colton Schilling, Quin Wise, Kyle Wodtli, Jacob Smith, David Skeen, Josh Holman, Cole Horner, Spencer Knight, Austin Horner, Austin Rice and Kaci Mauch.

Second-year lettermen were Alex Armstrong, Ty Collins, Zach Gill, Colton Holly, Mitch Keenon, Trever Olson, Scottie Stockman, Hunter Bidwell, Taylor Conn, Ty Harvey, Zane Jackson, Nate Melcher, Wade Paulus and Josh Wooley.

Third-year letters went to Kendell Anderson, Jesse Comstock and Jerohn Coleman.

In all-league voting, Coleman was first-team offensive tackle and defensive line. Comstock was first-team offensive guard and defensive line.

Paulus was first-team running back and linebacker. Senior Hunter Bidwell was first-team slot receiver, and junior Mitch Keenon was first-team wide receiver.

Sophomore Cole Horner was second-team quarterback, and Stockman was second-team wide receiver and defensive back.

Austin Horner was second-team linebacker. Schilling and Keenon were second-team defensive backs, and Bidwell was second-team kick returner.

Honorable mention went to Austin Horner, offensive center; junior Zach Gill, offensive tackle; Paulus, punter; junior Josh Holman, defensive line; and David Skeen, defensive line.
