A 56-year old woman remained hospitalized Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle while crossing Long Street Tuesday afternoon.
Sweet Home paramedics transported Joy Thorson of Sweet Home to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, said Sweet Home Police Chief Jeff Lynn. Later, she was transferred to Oregon Health Sciences University. Indications were the injuries were not life-threatening, but police had not been updated on her condition Wednesday.
Thorson was hit while crossing north from the Post Office at the intersection of 13th and Long to reach her vehicle parked on the north side of Long Street, Lynn said.
The vehicle, a 2000 Honda Civic, was driven by Megan Thompson, 18, who was southbound on 13th Avenue turning east onto Long Street, Lynn said. She was traveling at a low speed at the time of the crash, 5 to 10 mph.
Emergency workers responded to the crash at about 12:45 p.m. on March 4.
Police blocked Long Street from 13th Avenue to 15th Avenue to allow the Major Accident Investigation Team, which includes officers from other area police agencies, to investigate.
Police reopened Long Street at 3:13 p.m.
Police have issued no citations at this point, Lynn said. The accident remains under investigation.
