Vilas E. Kirk, 85, of Lebanon, died Dec. 5, 2006 at his home.
He was born July 1, 1921 in Silverton, the son of George and Mable (Beugli) Kirk. He was raised in Silverton and married Norma Jean Conklin on Nov. 23, 1945 in Vancouver, Wash. They moved to Sweet Home in 1946 and resided there until moving to Lebanon in 1969.
Mr. Kirk had worked as a truck driver for 40 years in Sweet Home-Lebanon area until his retirement in 1983 from M.O. Salmon & Sons.
He loved his family and enjoyed family get-togethers during birthdays and holidays. He really enjoyed teasing the great-grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and camping and found great enjoyment in the livestock he raised on his small farm. He loved to sit at the kitchen table and watch the cows and horses in the pasture.
Mr. Kirk is survived by his wife, Norma Jean; daughters, Audrey Evans of Goldendale, Wash. and Rita Manning, and her husband Don of Albany; a son, David, and his wife Lisa of Lebanon, four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe, Norman, Calvin, and Verne.
Funeral services were Dec. 9 at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery. To leave an on-line condolence for the family, go to http://www.hustonjost.com
