Frances M. Knueppel, 85, of Sweet Home died Feb. 7, 2013 surrounded by her children.
She was born in Pullman, Wash. to Gerald and Lillian (Jolly) Powell.
She grew up in the Spokane/Pullman area. She taught herself to drive on the streets of San Francisco in 1947 while her husband Royce was in the Navy. She moved to Portland, where she lived for 50 years and where she married John Knueppel. Mrs. Knueppel was an account manager for 30 years at Blue Bell Potato Chip company of Portland. She was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #305 in Portland for 30 years.
In 2001 she moved to Sweet Home, where she enjoyed her retirement years in the small town living and the people of Sweet Home.
She enjoyed her cats, Mr. Raggs and Miss Fancy, gardening in her yard, reading and going on adventures with her son and daughter-in-law.
Mrs. Knueppel is survived by her children, son Dave and daughter-law Lisa Herring of Sweet Home, daughter Mary and son-in-law Harold Owens of Redding, Calif., son Royce and daughter-in-law Linda Herring of Everett, Wash., and daughter Judy and son-in-law Charlie Christiansen of Portland; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Knueppel and Royce Herring; brother Bob Powell; sisters Betty Stovall and Iris Skagg; and “lil guy” Knueppel.
At her request, no services will be performed.
Memorial contributions can be made in her name to SafeHaven Humane Society in Albany.
