Meals on Wheels weekly menu
Meals on Wheels offers an on-site lunch at noon Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays to seniors over 60 at the Sweet Home Community Center.
There is a suggested donation of $3.50 per meal.
Meals are ordered in advance, and are the same meals as delivered to Meals on Wheels participants.
A menu will always be posted in the senior center’s dining room.
The menu on Friday, June 16, is a Father’s Day special featuring garlic chicken or meat loaf with gravy, whipped potatoes, an Italian vegetable blend, herb bread and ice cream.
The Sweet Home Senior Center is closed Monday, June 19, for the Father’s Day holiday.
The menu on Tuesday, June 20, is Western breaded beef steak with gravy or baked fish with lemon dill sauce, Delmonico potatoes, carrots, seven-grain bread and a snickerdoodle bar.

Information on special education
Per federal law, children with special needs have a right to special education.
Disabilities could include physical impairments, chronic illness, intellectual disabilities, hearing and vision difficulties, speech or language impairments, or learning disabilities.
If the child is of school age, contact the Sweet Home School District at (541) 367-7115. If the child is aged birth through 5 years and lives in Linn County, contact the Linn and Benton County Early Intervention Program at (541) 704-4025.
Referrals may be made at any time. There is no cost.
Community yard sale set June 17
The Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce is holding a series of Saturday Sweet Home community yard sales this spring and summer, scheduled June 17, July 8 and Aug. 5.
The chamber will provide maps of all participating properties.
Maps will be available a day before the sales at the chamber building, 1575 Main St .; Sweet Home City Hall, 3225 Main St .; or at the garage sale board at 18th Avenue and Long Street.
Volunteers sought at event
A volunteer recruitment event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at Academy Square Park, 55 Academy St.
A variety of organizations will be on hand, including animal rescues (large and small), the Fourth of July celebration, Guitars Under the Stars, Lebanon Fire Department, Hospital Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, Build Lebanon Trails, Skate Park, Habitat for Humanity, Faith Community Network, Friends of the Library, Pioneer Cemetery Clean Up and more.

Library sets park reading events
Sweet Home Public Library’s Summer Reading in the Park program kicks off at 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, at Sankey Park, 877 14th Ave.
The first topic will be “Science Heroes: Saving Earth Together with Talewise.”
Weekly events run through Aug. 11, with the exception of Aug. 4, which is Oregon Jamboree weekend.

Golf tournament swings into town
Adult and Teen Challenge will hold a Swing for Hope Golf Tournament Friday, June 23, at Mallard Creek Golf Course, 31966 Bellinger Scale Road.
A shotgun start begins at 8 a.m. Cost is $125 per player or $500 for a party of four, which includes green fees, a golf cart and lunch.

Charity car show rides June 24
Sweet Home will host its annual Sweet Home Sweet Ride Charity Car Show for Kids from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at 880 22nd Ave., behind the Sweet High School football stadium.
Some 100 trophies will be awarded in such categories as cars of nearly every decade, pickups, motorcycles, dirt bikes, ATVs, 4x4s, log/semi/dump trucks and vintage trailers.
A burnout pit is part of the schedule, usually in the late morning. Other activities include 50/50 raffles, a food court, a vendors alley, poker walk and music. Admission is free.

Museum seeking sale donations
East Linn Museum is gearing up for its annual yard sale, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 14-15 at its location, 746 Long St.
The event coincides with the city’s Sportsman’s Holiday Weekend.
Donations of clean, usable items such as clothing, housewares, sporting goods, kitchen items, etc., are welcome at the museum fundraiser. Large items such as furniture or electronics cannot be accepted.
Drop any donations off between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays at the museum.
Berry sale runs through July 7
Sweet Home P.E.O. Chapter DD is holding its annual berry fundraiser through July 7.
Proceeds provide educational scholarships, loans, and grants to women in the Sweet Home community.
The berries are freshly picked Columbia Star blackberries and blueberries, flash-frozen in nine-pound plastic pails. Released in 2014, Columbia Stars are vigorous, thornless, large and firm blackberries with a flavor rated as good or better than marionberry, which is 20% of Columbia Star’s parentage.

Those purchasing berries will be able to pick them up between 9 and 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, on Long Street behind the Rio Theater.
