Beekeeper Linda Cutright collects a swarm of bees that developed in the Thriftway parking lot during the early afternoon Monday, April 14. Bystanders indicated that the bees may have been in transport on a truck and for some reason decided to establish a new home. Honeybees, which tend not to be aggressive if unprovoked, often swarm on warm days in springtime as a natural way of multiplying. The swarm will cluster together, protecting their queen, until they locate a suitable location for a new hive. Cutright, a local beekeeper who saw a post on Facebook reporting the swarm, arrived with a brood box to corral the bees and move them to that suitable location where they could get started on a new hive.
