Already apparent is a new, widened multi-use sidewalk bordering the park along Weirich Drive and curbs bordering the parking lot.

According to City Manager Ron Whitlatch, Phase I, which was completed in 2024, consisted mainly of installing water lines down Weirich Drive.

Phase II includes paving of the parking lot, installation of a restroom and utilities, and construction of an ADA path throughout the park and a road to the back of the park where a future stage is planned.

Whitlatch said the city hopes to have underground utilities installed and some, if not all, of the parking lot paved in time for this year’s Strawberry Festival. Later this summer, they will finish installing the paths, restroom and lighting.

The improvements at Cheadle Lake Park are funded through grants and system development fees collected by the city.
