City Asks for Community Input

The City of Sweet Home is inviting residents to participate in a survey to share their ideas, concerns and hopes for the growing community.

“The government within the United States is intended to be ‘of the people, by the people, for the people.’ To help foster that ideal, we need to hear from the people,” Mayor Susan Coleman said.

Looking to the near future when several new council members will take the helm, Mayor Coleman wants communication between the council and the community off to a solid start.

“As councilors, we each interact with our sphere of people,” she said. “With so many new councilors starting in 2025, I hope the survey responses will provide councilors with the opportunity to hear from a broad spectrum of community members and create a foundation for the council moving forward.”

Here are questions posed on the survey, which can be accessed digitally via the QR code, online at https://www.sweethomeor.gov/executive/page/community-input-survey, or printed forms can be found at City Hall:

What do you like most about Sweet Home? What does a successful, thriving city look like to you? What is your vision for what the best version of Sweet Home would look like in 2040? What do you think is the biggest challenge facing the future of Sweet Home? What is the biggest opportunity facing Sweet Home? What would be your top three priorities for improvement if the city had $100 million to spend in five years? What is your preferred way to receive information from the city (email, social media, etc)?

Mayor Coleman explained that after responses are gathered, the city will try to identify common themes, ideas or concerns shared by the community they serve.

“Responses could inform future goal-setting for the council, and the ideas shared can help inform and shape a vision for Sweet Home’s future,” she said.

Those who submit a survey response will be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card at Thriftway. Responses must be submitted by Nov. 15.
