After some hiccups with getting a new building installed, Domino’s opened its doors for business to Sweet Home on Friday, Oct. 25, and activity inside among employees was bustling.
“We are so excited about today,” General Manager Holly Haney said. “It’s been a good outcome so far.”
The franchise was expected to be open this summer, but owner Bruce Vandenberg, of Vancor Properties, LLC, explained the delay in opening was due to unexpected problems with the building.
“The whole idea of the modular building was a good idea in concept, but when the building arrived it was totally wrecked inside,” he said.

He said they ended up having to re-do the outside, the top, the entire inside, and the electrical and HVAC.
Despite what appeared to be quite a busy first hour after opening, orders seemed to be going out the door in a reasonable amount of time.
Wyatt Christy said he’s been waiting for Domino’s to open since he first heard it was coming to town because he likes their bread bowls with chicken alfredo. Bi-Mart employee Daniel Leslie ordered his lunch on site during a break, noting, “I know when I get over there (at Bi-Mart), they’re gonna say, ‘You got pizza?’ and I’ll go, ‘Yeah, it’s mine.’”
The pizza business is built for take-out, or via drive-thru when orders are submitted ahead of time on phone, online or through the Domino’s app. Hours of operation are: 10:30 a.m. to 12 midnight on Sunday thru Thursday, and 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Vancor Properties also operates Domino’s in Eugene and Salem.
“I think Sweet Home is welcoming us and we’re glad to be here, for sure,” Vandenberg said.
