Dustin Nichol top write-in candidate for Holley School Board Seat

Final results from the May 20 election have been announced for Sweet Home races.

A final total of 2,243 ballots were cast in the Sweet Home by Sweet Home School District voters — just 16.79% of the registered voters. Vote totals were finalized June 11, according to County Clerk Marcie Richey. Turnout in the City of Sweet Home was 1,447 (18.59%).

In the various races for Sweet Home School Board, no one filed for the Holley seat (Zone 1), but there were 280 write-in votes for 85 individuals, of which Dustin Nichol was the top vote-getter with 87.  David Kem received 63.

Incumbent Mike Adams finished with 61.68% of the votes for the Zone 7 (at-large) seat. Challenger Robert Egner finished with 37.99% (693).

Erin Barstad, a newcomer to the board, finished with 60.83% (1,090) of the votes for the Zone 8 (at-large) seat. Matthew Bechtel, also challenging for the seat, finished with 38.62% (692).

Incumbent Amanda Carter  was unchallenged for the Zone 2 (Liberty) seat and newcomer Rachel Maynard was unchallenged for the Zone 5 (at large) seat.

Sweet Home’s charter amendment, to require voters to elect Sweet Home’s mayor rather than the mayor being elected by City Council members, had 79.96% (1,121) of the votes cast.

Sweet Home’s Police Department operating levy passed handily with 67.51% (954 votes) and the library levy passed with 67.52% (952).

Incumbents Dawn Mitchell and Rob Younger ran uncontested for their seats on the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District Board of Directors, and Jami Snyder was unchallenged for the Position 1 seat on the Sweet Home Cemetery District Board of Directors.

No one ran for the Position 2 seat, but out of 118 write-in votes cast, 13 were for John Kuhns, with Erin Barstad and Mindy Cummings Brown each getting six out of the 69 individuals who received votes.
