Berries for Scholarships
The PEO Chapter DD in Sweet Home is once again selling berries to raise money for scholarships.
If you like berries, here is an opportunity to purchase some while supporting a great cause. Freshly picked Oregon berries – blueberries and Columbia Star blackberries – are flash-frozen and sold in nine-pound plastic pails for $30. Perfect for homemade jams, jellies and tasty desserts.
Columbia Star blackberries, released in 2014, is a vigorous, thornless, trailing blackberry with superior flavor and large, firm berries. The flavor is rated as good or better than Marionberry, which is 20% of Columbia Star’s parentage.
For those interested in purchasing berries, send an email to [email protected], or call or text Nancy at 541.912.6579. Orders will be collected through July 11. Orders can be picked up on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9-9:30 a.m. on Long Street behind the Rio Theatre.
All proceeds from the berry sale provide educational scholarships, loans and grants to women in the community.
