Sweet Home’s boys finished second, as all five of their players shot under 100, and the girls were fourth in their home tournament Monday, April 13, at Mallard Creek.

The boys were led by junior Trent Harvey, who finished fourth individually with a nine-over 81, followed by sophomore Evan Malabago, a rookie to high school golf, who finished right behind with 82, and sophomore Henry Gainer with 85.
Senior Lynkin Royer, in his first year of high school golf as well, had a 95 for the Huskies and sophomore Blayne Schuster finished with 96.
Cascade’s Grant Hemelstrand was the top individual finisher with a 78, followed by teammate Garrett Wells, a freshman, second with 79, and Clark Clayton, third with 80.
On the girls side, six teams fielded enough players to score as a team, with the Huskies solidly in the middle of the pack in fourth out of 12 teams.
Salem Academy won with 319, followed by Taft (431), Santiam Christian (439) and the Huskies (445), ahead of Philomath (454) and Newport (500).

Senior Isabella Wagner led the Huskies with a 102, followed by junior Tori Victor (108), sophomore Taelyn Coleman (115), senior Eleanor Larsen (120) and senior Kylie Melkvik (145).
Salem Academy’s Ellie Gladow shot a one-over 73 to edge teammate Chloe Johnston (77).
“With only two weeks till girls districts and three for the boys, we are seeing some serious improvements from both teams,” Coach Haley May said.
The boys played April 20 at Langdon Farms and are scheduled to be at Cross Creek on April 27.
The girls played April 20 at Santiam and were scheduled for a match on April 22 at Bar Run, before completing their pre-district schedule April 28 at Salishan. The girls district tournament will be May 4-5 at Mallard Creek.
