The city will investigate the possibility of providing water to the industrial site east of Clark Mill Road where both TOMCO and Clear Lumber Co. have plans to construct forest product plants. The council endorsed proposals of the companies to locate mills in the area and instructed staff to work with the firms. TOMCO had requested the city provide enough water for present and future industrial growth, which would be 1,500 gallons per minute at 50 pounds residual pressure for fire protection. The city must determine if its water supplies are capable of assisting the proposed sites.

The City Council told representatives of the Sweet Home Swim Club that it would be interested in assisting with the cost of maintaining and operating a new pool at the high school. The club had asked the school district to include a new pool in a bond proposal; it is estimated to cost about $2.8 million, which would be an addition to a proposed $11 million reconstruction of the main part of the high school. While the proposed bond includes money to repair the current pool, the school board indicated it would pursue a higher bond if the community commits to helping with maintenance and operating costs of a new pool.
