A Sweet Home man who wrecked a commercial vehicle, injured a young girl, and killed a dog two years ago was sentenced after pleading guilty to two of his charges.
On July 15, 2022, Oregon State Police responded to a wreck involving a commercial motor vehicle that crashed down an embankment along Highway 20 near Sweet Home. Police learned that Timothy Wade Shockey, 44, who also had a Terrebonne address at the time, was traveling west on Highway 20 when it tumbled down the north side of the road and came to rest near the Santiam River.
Shockey was rescued and transported by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. His passenger, a young female, sustained serious injuries and was transported via Life Flight, and a dog from within the vehicle was found deceased.
Shockey pleaded guilty to DUII (liquor, .14% BAC) and third degree assault, and was sentenced to 38 months with the Oregon Dept. of Corrections, suspension of a driver’s license for one year, five years post-prison supervision, 60 months bench probation and a $1,500 fine. Charges of reckless driving, first degree animal abuse, operating a vehicle without driving privileges, and driving uninsured were dismissed.
