Sweet Home police and Linn County Sheriff’s deputies converged at a home on the south end of 10th Avenue Thursday, March 12 after, police said, a suspect fled from SHPD to a home at 151 10th Ave.
A Sweet Home police officer driving a marked police SUV observed a Buick LeSabre in the 1800 block of Main Street and recognized the driver as Ryan Sechrest, 39, of Sweet Home, who was known to have warrants for his arrest.
The officer observed Sechrest commit several traffic violations, including “running a couple of stop signs and going over the speed limit,” Police Chief Jason Ogden said.

When the officer attempted to pull Sechrest over, Sechrest actively attempted to elude the officer until he reached his residence on 10th Avenue. Sechrest and his female passenger fled from the vehicle and onto the property as the pursuing officer arrived.
Officers were advised that Sechrest had multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants through the Linn County Circuit Court, Albany Municipal Court, Lebanon Municipal Court and Sweet Home Municipal Court. His driving status is also revoked at the misdemeanor level through the Oregon DMV.
Additional SHPD officers and LCSO deputies arrived and established a perimeter around Sechrest’s residence, while the pursuing officer obtained a search warrant for the property, which included the main residence and a travel trailer.
After an extensive search, Sechrest was not located on the property.
Ogden said Sechrest is now wanted for fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, and misdemeanor driving while suspended, in addition to his felony and misdemeanor warrants.
Sechrest is six feet, three inches tall and weighs approximately 280 to 320 pounds.
